The AMT-200 is an affordable, environmentally friendly, electric, small mosquito trap that is incredibly easy to use. Just plug it in, replace the scent once a month, and empty the insect container as needed. It doesn’t matter how large or small your yard is; the area that the machine can attract mosquitoes and midges over is up to 1500m².

How the AMT-200 works

The AMT-200 mosquito killer attracts using:

• Scents
• Heat
• UV light
• A small amount of carbon dioxide

Having multiple attractants is very important to attract the right kind of insects to the machine. If the machine only uses UV light as an attractant, the catch will mostly be butterflies and non-biting insects. Additionally, you can add a butterfly guard that prevents moths from being sucked into the catch bag.

The machine uses photocatalysis with titanium dioxide (TiO₂). When the UV light is activated, a small amount of carbon dioxide is produced which enhances the scent's effect. It does not produce as much carbon dioxide as a gas-powered mosquito trap but works as an effective complement in small to medium environments.

To increase effectiveness and catch more mosquitoes, you can supplement with a booster kit which produces more carbon dioxide and improves the catch. When insects come too close to the trap, a powerful fan sucks them into the catch bag where they die of dehydration.

The machine contains a heating element perceived by mosquitoes as body heat. When the mosquito senses the heat, it flies close enough to the mosquito killer to be sucked in by the fan.

The scent makes the difference compared to other mosquito hunters

The biggest difference with the AMT-200 mosquito hunter compared to simpler light traps is that it should be equipped with a scent tablet. The scent spreads around the machine over a longer distance than the heat and attracts mosquitoes to fly closer to the machine. Different species of mosquitoes are attracted to different scents; for the AMT-200 mosquito machine, three different Rapid Action scents are suitable:

• Black - Best suited for mosquitoes
• Green - Suitable for mosquitoes and midges
• Red - Best for tropical mosquito species, e.g., floodwater mosquitoes, and also for warmer climates (Asia and southern Europe).

A Green scent is included when you buy the machine.

The AMT-200 is a good choice when you:

• Want an electric mosquito machine without gas
• Have a small to medium-sized yard
• Want low energy consumption (24.8 W)
• Prioritize easy installation and operation
• For very large areas or extremely high mosquito pressure, a gas-powered mosquito trap can be more effective as it produces larger amounts of carbon dioxide.

Environmentally friendly mosquito machine

Because the AMT-200 is powered by electricity, there are no fossil carbon dioxide emissions. A recommendation that many want us to emphasize is to empty the catch to feed birds or fish so that the ecological cycle is closed. Add a butterfly guard if you want to minimize the risk of catching moths.

Multiple attractants

The AMT-200 uses several different attraction methods compared to many other electric mosquito machines. At the same time, a gas-powered mosquito trap is generally more effective when the goal is to quickly reduce a large mosquito population because it produces a significantly stronger and more continuous carbon dioxide signal.

Low operating cost

Thanks to the low energy consumption (24.8 W) and that no gas is needed, the AMT-200 is a cost-effective and low-maintenance option for reducing the mosquito population over time.

Proper placement

Place the machine a bit away from the patio, as people always attract mosquitoes and midges more than a machine. For best effect, it can be hung up, for example on a tree, and in that case the height is important. Choose a sheltered location.

Change scent roughly once a month and check and empty the catch bag as needed.

Other important information

• Follow instructions included with the product. Never disassemble or cut open the Octenol cartridge (i.e., the hard plastic housing). Doing so risks direct contact with the Octenol substance inside the cartridge. Using it other than described here may cause higher concentrations which can be harmful and irritating.
• If Octenol substance inside the cartridge is ingested, immediately call the Poison Control Center or a doctor for advice. Allow the person to drink water in small sips.
• If the concentrated substance inside the cartridge comes into contact with skin or eyes, immediately wash the skin or rinse the eye slowly and carefully with plenty of water.
• If a person inhales a high concentration of Octenol, ensure fresh air and rest.
• Unused cartridges should be stored in a cool, dry place.
