How R-Octenol Works

R-Octenol (R-1-octen-3-ol) is an attractant that mimics human scent. Together with carbon dioxide, it causes mosquitoes to perceive the trap as a host.

Other Important Information

• Follow the instructions included with the product. Never disassemble or cut open the octenol cartridge itself (i.e., the hard plastic casing). Doing so may expose you directly to the octenol agent inside the cartridge. Using it in ways other than those stated here can cause higher concentrations which may be harmful to health and cause irritation.
• In case of accidental ingestion of the octenol agent inside the cartridge, immediately call Poison Control or a doctor for advice. Have the person drink water in small sips.
• If the concentrated agent inside the cartridge gets on your skin or in your eyes, immediately wash the skin or rinse the eye slowly and carefully with plenty of water.
• If someone inhales a high concentration of octenol, ensure fresh air and rest.
• Unused cartridges should be stored in a cool, dry place.
